Road Rage

Road Rage

09/07/2013 in General

First off my thoughts and prayers go out to all who have been victims to road rage whether you are an athlete or just another person doing your commute. I know I am preaching to the choir here, but maybe somebody outside of the endurance community will read it and take it to heart. We all exhibit road rage every time we drive, I will not elaborate. In addition you have distracted drivers with kids, animals, food, radio, and most of all “SMART” phones…which should be called stupid phones and they put everybody at risk. The nice thing for them is that they are inside a 1/2 ton steel cage…

I feel bad for what happened to Richie and crew last week in Boulder but it happens everywhere, and I did not find it interesting that in the article no tickets were issued. When I got hit by a car in 2009, I was issued a ticket by Kildeer Officer Beres for failure to avoid an accident. Here it is a car hits me, screws up my knee for the rest of my life and the cop tries to pin it on me that I should not be on the road. He didn’t even know the rules of the road when it came to cyclist and these people are supposed to be protecting us…right! I wish Hoff would post the license plate and see what would happen.

So Done,

Attitudes are slow to change! The the Barrington police should know better. Most of them are great and some may be endurance athletes themselves. I have to addmitt I would have found it hard not to lose it with the ignorance of that sole officer. Come on a 4,000 Lb. vehicle vs. a 16 Lb. bike. What if it was a child. That officer needs to attend traffic school.
